In summer, keep in bright filtered light or partial shade. Camellias generally prefer cool weather - some summer protection is required. The soil stays consistently moist, but never waterlogged. Ensure excellent drainage during monsoon. Do not let the root ball to dry out completely during the hot months. Camellias prefer acidic, humus rich and well draining soil. Feed during active growing season, avoid excess nitrogen. NOTE: If your local water is hard, it is preferable to use suitably treated low alkalinity (filtered) water.
